THE ROYAL PALACE
Indulge in the marvel of Phnom Penh – The Royal Palace.
In 1866, Phnom Penh was designated as the capital of Cambodia following the King’s relocation to the city and the construction of an opulent palace near the river. The Royal Palace – a magnificent example of Cambodian royal architecture occupying over 174,870 sqm in the city center – has since become a symbol of the capital and a must-see attraction for tourists, featuring its beautiful Khmer roofs, elaborate gilding, and lush gardens.
While not all parts of the Palace are open to the public, several areas can be visited, including the Throne Hall, with its 59-meter-tall tower modeled after Angkor’s Bayon style; the Chan Chaya Pavilion (Dancing Pavilion), which occasionally hosts classical Khmer dance performances; and the Silver Pagoda, featuring a life-size gold Maitreya Buddha statue weighing 90 kg and adorned in royal regalia set with 9,584 diamonds—the largest weighing 25 carats—and a floor made of 5,329 sterling silver tiles.
This iconic destination is just 11 minutes by car from Noden Hotel & Apartment.
